The first thing when planning to come to Vienna is to find out weather you need a Visa or not, and if - which kind of visa.
We have worked out 4 different options - depending on your homecountry / passport and the time you are planning to stay in Vienna.
!!!Please note: FeelsLikeHome is not legally in a position to give any immigration advice on applying for visa. The information given is collected by to the

inquiries to the Austrian Consulate i.e. Embassy that serves your region.!!!
First, we have to devide your homecountry / country of your current passport into blocks: 1) EU and EEA and 2) All other countries

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.

So let's find what's the option that fits you:
For the required health insurance you have two options:
The state insurance (WGKK) that offers the very basic security (approx. €50.- / month) or a private insurance (starting from approx. €60/month) where you have extra services like private hospitals, choice of the doctor, immediate treatement, hospital rooms with less beds, medicine included etc.)
If you are interested in private insurance feel free to contact us at office@feelslikehome.at.
We worked out a special deal only for international students!

M E L D E Z E T T E L (Certification of Registration)
Whether you take or give up lodgings in Austria you are required to register with the relevant authority or notify that authority of your departure from your current address. You must also report changes in main residence, name or citizenship (registration of new circumstances). Registration matters in Vienna are within the competence of the district offices.
According to Austrian law you have to register with the authorities within three days before or after moving to a new address respectively to Austria. If you live in a rented flat you need your landlord’s signature to prove you live there.
The residence registration form is available at every Registration Service Centre in the Vienna District Offices (Magistratisches Bezirksamt) or you can download it from:
http://www.wien.gv.at/verwaltung/meldeservice/pdf/meldezettel.pdf
You can register at any of the Registration Service Centres in the Vienna District Offices no matter which district you live in. Find all addresses here:
http://www.wien.gv.at/english/living-working/registration/index.html
After the registration procedure you receive a residence registration certificate for free. But you have to pay an application fee of at least € 15 if you need further certificates. So, take about € 40 with you if you want to be on the safe side.

For the first couple of weeks you should get a cheap pre-paid phone or SIM card to be available for your family and friends. You also might need to make some calls within Austria.
Using the phone from home is extremely expensive and will result in an unleasant surprise when receiving the phone bill.
We suggest going to the Tele.ring shop directly at Stephansplatz (City Center) and get a simple prepaid phone.

The country of your citizenship should know where you live, so they can help quicker in case something happens.
